Lovett Jr., for his enduring efforts to establish developmentally appropriate juvenile courts for all children.* The United States Supreme Court has cited a comprehensive body of research on adolescent development in its opinions. Similarly, the relationships adolescents have at school have been associated with academic adjustment. In the current investigation, it was anticipated that the relational context in which adolescents operate at school should also be linked to other indices of adjustment-- social and behavioral-- by the end of their year in the sixth grade.

      The purpose of this study was to examine aspects of children's social and contextual experience in schools. Children N = in elementary schools completed a measure designed to assess qualities of their relationships with teachers as well as their perceptions of school environments. Students were then grouped into categories based on these perceptions and comparisons were made between .   The present study investigates the resilience function of racial socialization on four indicators of African American adolescents' psychological adjustment (depressive symptoms, perceived stress, psychological well‐being, and delinquent behavior) in .
